How to select

Wire diameter and mesh aperture are the first pair to settle, because together they set how heavy the panel is and how open the run looks; the panel size and the run length then settle the post count. After that come the post section, the surface — PVC coated or hot-dip galvanised — and the colour, and finally the slope, the corners and the gate openings along the line.

Chain-link is a woven product, and that one fact explains most of its behaviour. Each wire is pre-bent and threaded past the strand above and below it, so the crossings are diamond intersections rather than welds and nothing in the panel is rigid at the joint. The published range covers wire from 1.5 to 4 mm, mesh from 50 × 50 to 70 × 70 mm and panels up to 2 × 3 m, in PVC-coated or hot-dip galvanised steel, mainly green and blue. It is the light, open answer where a boundary has to be marked and closed rather than armoured — sports grounds, parks, road frontages, farms and general perimeter enclosure.

Photographs below show the product family; the specification on this page is the manufacturer's published figure and is quoted unchanged.

01 · Product overview

What the chain-link fence is made of

The published range is wire from 1.5 to 4 mm, mesh aperture of 50 × 50 mm, 60 × 60 mm or 70 × 70 mm with others available, panels in 1 m × 2 m, 1.5 m × 2 m, 2 m × 2.5 m and 2 m × 3 m sizes among others, square or round posts, and a PVC-coated or hot-dip galvanised finish, mainly green and blue.

Chain-link is a woven product, and that single fact explains most of its behaviour. Each wire is pre-bent and then threaded past the strand above and below it, so the crossings are diamond intersections rather than welds. Nothing in the panel is rigid at the joint, which is why a chain-link line can be pulled around a corner and can follow ground that rises and falls, instead of demanding a dead-level footing along the whole run.

The published range is wide enough to cover most boundaries. Wire runs from 1.5 mm to 4 mm, mesh aperture is commonly 50 × 50 mm, 60 × 60 mm or 70 × 70 mm with others available, and panels are made in 1 m × 2 m, 1.5 m × 2 m, 2 m × 2.5 m and 2 m × 3 m sizes among others. Posts are square or round section, and the finish is either PVC coated or hot-dip galvanised, with green and blue the colours most often asked for.

Because the mesh is open and light, chain-link is usually the economic answer where the boundary has to be marked and closed rather than armoured: sports grounds, parks, road frontages, farms and general perimeter enclosure. Line posts, corner posts, top rail, tension bands and bracing are quoted with the run, and gate posts are priced with the fence so the openings are not left as an afterthought. Where a boundary calls instead for a rigid welded panel, the same Wuhan workshop quotes framed mesh fence.

Two decisions shape the quotation more than any other. The first is the aperture and wire diameter together, because they set how much the panel weighs and how much it resists; the second is the post layout, which follows the run length, the slope and the corners. Send the drawing or the standard you follow and both are confirmed in writing before production. Where the line has to come down and go up again between contracts, temporary mesh fence is quoted alongside it.

04 · Made to your drawing

Made to the project specification

Send us the drawing or the standard you follow and we confirm in writing what we can supply against it. For a chain-link run, that means the wire diameter, the mesh aperture, the panel size, the post section, the finish and the colour, together with the run length, the slope, the corners and the gate openings.

What settles this specification

Five choices fix the price and the packing: the wire diameter and mesh aperture, the panel size and run length, the post section, the surface and colour, and the site conditions along the run — slope, corners and gate openings.

06 · Questions buyers ask

Chain-Link Fence — frequent questions

Every answer below repeats a figure or a term already published on this page; nothing is added to the specification here.

Is the panel welded or woven?

Woven. The wire is pre-bent and threaded so the strands cross in a diamond pattern, and the panel is not welded at the intersections. Because nothing in the panel is rigid at the joint, a chain-link line can follow ground that rises and falls instead of demanding a dead-level footing.

What wire diameter and mesh aperture can I order?

Wire is published from 1.5 mm to 4 mm, and mesh aperture is commonly 50 × 50 mm, 60 × 60 mm or 70 × 70 mm with others available. Panels are made in 1 m × 2 m, 1.5 m × 2 m, 2 m × 2.5 m and 2 m × 3 m sizes among others, on square or round posts.

Can the run be made to my drawing?

Yes. The listed sections are quoted unchanged, and the open items — post spacing, gates and corners — are confirmed against the drawing or the buyer's standard. Send us the run length, the slope and the opening widths and we confirm the post layout on the drawing, together with the finish and the colour.

Is there a catalogue model number or a published price?

No catalogue model number is issued until the drawing is agreed. Price is quoted per order — FOB Wuhan / Shanghai, CIF or DDP — and MOQ, loading plan and lead time are confirmed per specification; send the drawing, quantity and destination port and we reply within one business day.

How is the fence packed, and what documents come with the order?

Panels and posts are bundled and palletised for container loading, and the exact packing method is confirmed per specification with the loading plan. Documents are the proforma invoice, commercial invoice, packing list and certificate of origin as required; buyers who need CE / EN / ASTM documentation tell us the standard and it is confirmed in writing what can be supplied.
