How to select

Fix the total run length, the height and the ground fixing first, then the printed artwork and the split between the two 480 mm bands. Those answers settle the post spacing, the panel layout, the 60 mm U-section cap detail and the packing. The colour is RAL to sample, so send the reference or a physical sample with the order.

This is the hoarding we build for a works boundary that has to look presentable along a public street. The published panel is 2.5 × 6 m and the face is divided into two 480 mm bands — a printed colour-steel upper band carrying the blue-sky graphic above a green louvred perforated lower band — carried on half-round shaped posts with an 80 × 80 × 0.9 mm concealed post at the panel joint and a 60 mm U-section cap closing the top edge. Because the units are large, a run of them reads as one continuous printed band rather than a line of small panels.

Photographs below show the product family; the specification on this page is the manufacturer's published figure and is quoted unchanged.

01 · Product overview

What the blue-sky printed hoarding is made of

The published figures are a 2.5×6 m panel in two 480 mm bands — a printed colour-steel upper band carrying the blue-sky graphic over a green louvred perforated lower band — with half-round shaped posts, an 80×80×0.9 mm concealed post behind the face at the panel joint and a 60 mm U-section cap.

This hoarding is bought for how it looks along a street. The published panel is 2.5×6 m, and the face is divided into two 480 mm bands: a printed colour-steel band carrying the blue-sky graphic above a green louvred perforated band. A 60 mm U-section closes the top of the run, the posts are half-round shaped sections, and an 80×80×0.9 mm concealed post sits behind the face at the panel joint.

The 6 m panel is the figure that shapes everything else. A two-and-a-half-metre-high unit of that length is carried on the shaped post and the concealed post rather than on a dense line of small posts, and that spacing is a large part of why the run reads more calmly than a panel-and-post site fence. The concealed post keeps the printed face flush across the joint, and the U-section cap closes the top edge so the panel line looks like one continuous band.

The two bands do different work. The upper band carries the graphic; the lower band is perforated and louvred, so the bottom of the face ventilates while the top carries the image. Where the whole face has to be open rather than only the lower band, perforated hoarding is the usual alternative. The published lower band is green, and where a project needs different artwork or a different split between the bands, that is agreed on the order because the printed panel and the band heights are cut together. Where a plain coated face is wanted in place of the printed one, colour-steel hoarding covers that.

Post spacing and total length follow the site and the exposure — a 2.5 m high, 6 m long panel presents a large face to the wind — and both are confirmed on the order drawing. Tell us the total run length, the height, the ground fixing, the artwork and the band split, and the post spacing, panel layout, cap detail and packing are confirmed as one specification.

03 · Features

Why this printed hoarding is specified

  • Use: long public-street frontages and city sites where the works boundary has to look presentable.
  • Panel: 2.5×6 m, as published — fewer, larger units along the frontage.
  • Post: half-round shaped post, with an 80×80×0.9 mm concealed post behind the face at the joint.
  • Upper band: 480 mm printed colour-steel panel carrying the blue-sky graphic.
  • Lower band: 480 mm green louvred perforated panel, so the bottom of the face ventilates.
  • Cap: 60 mm U-section, closing the top edge so the panel line reads as one band.
  • Artwork: the printed graphic and the band split are agreed per order; the panel is cut to the artwork.
  • Post spacing and total length are confirmed on the order drawing against the run and the exposure.

04 · Made to your drawing

Made to the project specification

Send us the drawing or the standard you follow and we confirm in writing what we can supply against it. For a printed hoarding, that means the total run length, the height, the ground fixing, the printed artwork, the split between the two bands and the post spacing that the exposure allows.

What settles this specification

The run length, the height, the ground fixing, the printed artwork and the band split. The 2.5×6 m panel is a large face, so the post spacing follows the exposure as well as the layout.
